Eagle Fustar Tennis Academy coaches bring playing and coaching experience from all over the world such as Croatia, New Zealand, Iran, Serbia and Germany. Our coaches create an electrifying atmosphere that inspires players on the court and beyond to reach their full potential. We try not only to create better tennis players but better student athletes by insisting good values and habits such as team work, visualizing success, leadership, preparation, consistent improvement, extreme effort, and the ability to stretch yourself both mentally and physically.

When working on an individual basis, students will get the one on one attention that is extremely important with regard to stroke production. Students will receive expert advice on technical aspects of every stroke and tactical knowledge from former collegiate players and world ranked tennis professionals. Lessons are available to any age or level of player.

Brian Eagle co founded the Eagle Fustar Tennis program in 2002 alongside Nick Fustar with a mission to develop elite junior tennis players in Northern California by providing them the most professional and structured training possible. Eagle has helped grow Eagle Fustar to be the premier program in the Bay Area. Eagle was a highly ranked National and Northern California junior. In fact, he was ranked #1 in the 12s and 14s for four consecutive years and was a winner of the prestigious Fiesta Bowl National tournament. In his junior and senior collegiate seasons at UC Berkeley, Eagle played #1 and #2 singles and #1 doubles. Playing in the PAC 10 conference, he achieved high rankings of #34 in singles and #19 in doubles. Eagle played professionally on the ATP Tour for 4 years. In that time, he won 7 professional doubles titles in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. He also traveled in Asia and spent considerable time in Europe where he had the honor of playing professional club tennis in Germany. From 2001 – 05, Eagle was working with Stanford’s #1 ranked player and professional Amber Liu. Amber captured the NCAA individual singles title in consecutive years and was an integral member of NCAA title teams.

Nick Fustar

Nick Fustar

Fustar co founded the Eagle Fustar Tennis program in 2002 alongside Brian Eagle with a mission to develop elite junior tennis players in Northern California by providing them the most professional and structured training possible. Fustar has helped grow Eagle Fustar to be the premier program in the Bay Area. Fustar had tremendous success as a Northern California junior and a collegiate player at Fresno State. Fustar was ranked #1 in the 16’s and 18’s in Norcal and as high as #4 in the Nation in the 16’s. He traveled Europe with the USTA National team. As a collegiate player, Fustar achieved a high National ranking of 70 in singles and 23 in doubles. He played #1 Singles and Doubles at Fresno State his senior year. Fustar was also an ATP world ranked player who traveled extensively through Europe and South America. Fustar has worked with several professional tennis players in the past. These include Mario Ancic (top 10 ATP) and Nick Rainey (top 150 ATP). Currently, Fustar is working with touring professional Michael McClune and has helped Michael reach a career high ranking of 265 (and counting). Fustar is also working with top Nationally and Internationally ranked junior Eric Johnson. Within EF, Fustar is heavily involved in the HPC clinics as well as the Advanced HPC clinics. In addition, Fustar is the General Manager of the Full Time program which includes all aspects of the operation on court and off of the court.

Ogidi Obi

Ogidi Obi

Ogidi played collegiate tennis for Columbia University before playing professional tennis for 5 years. Ogidi brings extensive experience both as a coach and a world class player. A former ATA Doubles Champion and world ranked ATP professional, Obi played professionally on the USTA Pro Circuit and took up coaching immediately after his pro career. As the Director of Junior Development at Eagle Fustar, Ogidi will be at clinic daily and will be available for private lessons as well as footwork sessions. Ogidi has had over 10 years of coaching experience and is now in his 5th year at Eagle Fustar. Private Lesson Rate: $90

Daniel Shnapek

Daniel has been coaching competitive tennis players for over 17 years.  He started out his coaching career by running programs at the Cupertino Sports Center and has since been instilling perfect technique in his students.  He prides himself on stroke production and is an expert in cleaning up stroke techniques. Daniel brings tremendous energy at every Eagle Fustar clinic and at his lessons.  His work ethic and passion are contagious as he has helped us raise the level at every workout.  Daniel is a staple at our West Valley clinics and helps run High Performance clinics and Advanced Clinics. Greg Shearer

Greg Shearer

Tennis Professional/Full Time Program Head Coach

Greg Shearer was a top ranked junior in New Zealand.  He played his collegiate tennis at Fresno State playing #1 singles and doubles.  He transferred to Baylor University for his Senior year, in which his team was ranked #1 in the country and went 33-1, losing in the NCAA Division I final.  Internationally, Greg played 4 seasons of professional club tennis in Germany and many international junior tournaments.  After graduating from Baylor with a Masters Degree in Sports Management, Greg traveled with several top 150 WTA players and top 50 ITF juniors.  He comes to Eagle Fustar in 2010 after working  at Weil Tennis academy where he trained and traveled with their Junior ITF team.  Greg will primarily be working with the Full Time Program as a Junior Development Head Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach. Marco Foelz

Marco Foelz

Marco graduated from Fresno Pacific University School of Business with a M.A. in Global Marketing Management in 2009. Prior, he received his B.A. in Management and Marketing from Fresno Pacific University. As a collegiate player, Marco played for the Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds, where he won the State Championships in 2008 and 2009, and the National Championships in 2009. Marco was also the recipient of the prestigious “Champion of Character” Award for four years in a row.  Marco successfully played numerous open prize money tournaments on all surfaces around Europe before becoming a college player in 2005. He played professional club tennis in Germany for several years and won the divisional championships in 2009 playing #1 singles and #1 doubles for his team. Marco brings many years of coaching experience to Eagle Fustar. He has been coaching private lessons and groups since he was 17 years old and received his coaching license in Germany in 2000, giving him over a decade of coaching experience. He has been a head coach at two tennis clubs in Germany before becoming a college tennis player. Marco will be at the Full Time Program, Advanced Clinics and will also be available for private lessons. Tony Yang

Tony Yang is a High Performance Coach at Eagle Fustar Tennis.  Since the Academy’s inception in 2003, Tony has helped produce numerous nationally & sectionally ranked players and was recently invited to attend the USTA High Performance Coaching Program.  In addition to his coaching, Tony also heads up two key programs: Video Production & Analysis and the RTC ( Regional Training Center ) camps held at the Santa Clara University campus.  Along with coach John Togasaki, Tony utilizes Dartfish software technology to help analyze stroke production for our Fulltime program as well as some of our highly nationally ranked players.  Tony and John are also are in charge of the College Recruiting Video service, which has enabled many of our players to get noticed by college coaches during the recruiting process. Tony has also served as a member of USTA Norcal’s Coaching Commission. Tony played college tennis at UC Berkeley, where he and Brian Eagle were teammates.  Tony played professionally briefly after his college career and trained with the Taiwan national team before obtaining his MBA at Willamette University, where he served as the Volunteer Assistant Coach.  Tony has continued to stay in tournament shape and was the #1 ranked Norcal player in 2008 in both the 30s and 35s.  He also took 5th place in the 2008 National Grass Courts 30s held at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. Jason Scalese

Jason Scalese

Jason joined the Eagle Fustar team in 2008 on a limited basis and began working regularly in the fall of 2010. Jason works with the Champs and High Performance clinics and taught with the summer Full Time program in 2011. As of 2011, Jason has been a certified professional by both the USPTA and the PTR for nearly a decade. Jason has been the Archbishop Mitty High School boy’s and girl’s varsity coach since 1999. He was the 2009 USPTA High School coach of the year when his girl’s team went a perfect 25-0. Jason also has an impressive college coaching resume, serving currently as the Women’s coach at NCAA DII Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, and previously serving as the assistant coach for the men’s team at Sonoma State University. Jason still helps with the Santa Clara University programs where he runs several USTA tournaments including the 16s/18s NorCal Junior Sectionals. Jason played NCAA DIII tennis at Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach where he was academic all-conference twice. Jelena Pandzic

Jelena Pandzic

Jelena was a ranked professional player since she was 16 years old. During her collegiate career she was two times NCAA national singles runner-up, and national Rookie of the Year while playing for Fresno State in 2004. Jelena went undefeated in dual matches while playing for Freso Pacific University in 2006 and 2007, was the NAIA National singles Champion, and runner-up at the NCAA Nationals singles Championships. After college, Jelena pursued her professional career where she reached her highest ranking of 136 on the WTA in 2008. She competed in all four Grand Slams, won 7 ITF Singles titles and 2 ITF doubles titles. In 2011, she competed in the Fed Cup in Israel, representing her home country of Croatia. From 2003 until 2007 while not competing herself, Jelena was a private coach and a hitting partner to numerous junior players. Private lesson rate: $90

John Togasaki

John Togasaki

John has been with the Eagle Fustar program since 2003. He has been ranked as high as #13 nationally in Men’s 30’s singles, but specialized in doubles, having been ranked #1 several times in 5.5 men’s and mixed doubles, and having reached the finals of the Mountain View Open mixed doubles three times. He is the official seeder for NorCal Women’s and Mixed Open tournaments, and he serves on the USTA/NorCal Adult Tournaments and Self-rating Appeals committees, in addition to having served on national USTA committees in the past. John has experience teaching young kids and adults just starting to learn tennis to ranked juniors and seasoned league and tournament players. He emphasizes the finer points of footwork and technique as well as strategy. John works together with Tony Yang on Dartfish video analysis and college recruitment videos. Private Lesson Rate: $90

Max Bunag

Max, a former student of the Eagle Fustar program, is a certified PTR Instructor. He is involved in Eagle Fustar’s Full Time Program, as well as daily programs such as Champs and High Performance Clinics. Max gained his start in coaching at Branham High School in 2007. Since then Max was an instructor at the Cupertino Sports Center, active in both their Recreation and Competitive clinics. A native of Phoenix, AZ, Max was raised in the Bay Area and played for Archbishop Mitty High School, where he is currently the Junior Varsity coach. He is still active in Men’s Open level USTA tournaments. Max’s other interests are comic books and video games. Mohammad brings a high degree of skill, energy and enthusiasm to his coaching. He enjoys creating and improvising new tennis drills to share with his players. Mohammad was born (1976) and raised in Iran, where he picked up tennis on the red clay courts shortly after. Petar Racic

Petar Racic

Petar is originally from Serbia where he successfully competed as a junior. After being certified by the Serbian Tennis Federation in 1993, he continued coaching and developing numerous top juniors and NCAA Division I players. In 2004 Petar came to US to continue his coaching career at Weil Tennis Academy where he worked as a Head Coach and Summer Camp Director, working and traveling with nationally and internationally ranked juniors from all over the world. As of 2011, Petar brings 19 years of coaching experience and great energy to Eagle Fustar. His coaching philosophy is based on approaching each player individually, developing individual game styles and sets of skills as foundation of their game. 2011 is Petar’s first year at Eagle Fustar.
